Fever takes place when the temperature of the body is elevated as a result of the body’s thermostat being reset to a higher than usual temperature. In child, low-grade fevers having temperature below 102 degrees F can be treated at home, with or without medication. It can become very dangerous if it surpasses temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius or 104 degree Fahrenheit. The body’s temperature can also rise for reasons other than fever such as; runners will raise their temperature when they run on a hot day. This is not a fever but it can be called as hyperthermia where the body thermostat remains set at “normal”.

There is no single value that is defined as fever due to the normal variation in body temperature. Following are generally accepted values for fever.

The most common cause of fever in children is infection. The most likely illnesses to cause fever include common viral and bacterial illnesses like colds, gastroenteritis, ear infections, croup, and bronchiolitis.

    * After you’re done using a thermometer, clean it with rubbing alcohol or wash it in cool, soapy water.
    * Be sure to label your rectal thermometer so that it isn’t accidentally used in your child’s mouth.
    * If you’re taking your child’s temperature orally, wait at least 20 minutes after your child finishes eating or drinking hot or cold foods and beverages to take his or her temperature.
    * Don’t take your child’s temperature right after he or she has had a bath.

Treatment of fever in Kids:

Without consulting your doctor, don’t give any medicine to babies who are younger than 2 months of age.

Medications:

Acetaminophen (one brand name: Children’s or Infants’ Tylenol) relieves pain and lowers fever. For the correct dosage for your child, check the package label or consult your doctor. The correct dosage of the medication depends on your child’s weight and age.

Another medicine, Ibuprofen can also be used to lower a fever in children over 6 months of age. Your doctor will tell you the correct dose for your child, so talk to your doctor before giving ibuprofen (two brand names: Children’s Advil, Children’s Motrin) to your child.

Sponging and baths:

Sponging involves placing a child in a bathtub and utilizing a damp washcloth to be relevant comfortably warm (85ºF or 30ºC) water to the entire body. As water evaporates from the skin surface, cooling of the body take place. So, the child should not be bundled in wet towels or submerged in water when this method of cooling is used.

Sponging is not as effective as anti-fever medications such as acetaminophen and so it is rarely used. Sponging should always be used in conjunction with anti-fever medications, such as acetaminophen, unless the child cannot tolerate these medications.

It is never recommended to use sponging with alcohol because alcohol fumes may be absorbed through the child’s skin or lungs.

Increase fluids:

Fever can increase a child’s risk of becoming dehydrated. Parents should encourage their child to drink an adequate amount of fluids to reduce the risk of dehydration. Supply your child with lots of fluids including water, juices, soups or gelatin to keep them well hydrated. The parent should consult the child’s healthcare provider if the child is unwilling or unable to drink fluids for more than a few hours.

Rest:

Tiredness and achy mostly experienced by child in fever. Parents should encourage their child to rest as much as the child wants. It is not essential to force the child to sleep or rest if he or she starts to feel better. When the temperature has been normal for 24 hours, children may return to school or other activities.

Consult your doctor if your child has the following symptoms with their fever:

    * More sleepy than usual
    * Complaining of a stiff neck or light hurting their eyes.
    * Vomiting and refusing to drink much
    * If your child is in pain
    * Rash
    * Problems with breathing

Key points to remember:

    * If your child seems well and is happy there is no need to treat a fever.
    * Fevers are common in children.
    * If your child is under 3 months and has a fever above 38 degreeC, take them to the doctor to be checked.
    * Watch your child for signs of the illness getting worse.
    * If your child seems unwell take their temperature. The normal temperature range is up to 38 degreeC.
    * If your child is miserable, treatment is needed to comfort your child.  Give clear fluids and paracetamol.  The response of the fever to treatment does not matter.

You can make your service representatives more productive

By using a software solution that is focused around the customer service interaction, you can make your service representatives more productive and provide more value to your customers.

There are several focus areas that should be available in the system you use for customer service. Does your system have the proper focus?

Focus on the Customer

Systems designed to increase the effectiveness of customer service focus on the living, breathing customer at the other end of the phone. Not the account number or name, not the billing and shipping address, but the person who is ordering, using, or receiving your product. Contact records attached to each account let customer service reps track interactions with the people at your accounts as individuals and they can quickly look up history and details about the contacts they are talking to and know exactly what their interest is related to your product or service.

Focus on Communication and Cases

Systems designed to help you resolve customer requests allow you to track each request or issue separately. Each request or incident is managed as a case and can have different reps and customer contacts involved, separate histories, and trackable outcomes. All communication (email, phone calls, visits, and documents) can be tracked to the individual case so a complete picture of the solution provided is stored and managed for later reference.

Focus on Terms, Warranties, and Contracts

Systems designed to provide service allow reps to quickly assess the coverage, contracts, warrantees, and service levels that a client is entitled to and track the services applied to each service offering. Current status, renewal dates and up-sell opportunities should be available for discussion each time a customer who is provided service is in communication with a customer service rep.

Focus on Repeatable and Quick Resolutions

Systems designed to lower service cost allow for the creation of knowledge bases of past solutions that can be accessed while service reps are in communication with customers. Knowledge should be provided in a way that allows reps to resolve issues on the first call or provide detail on how the solution will be achieved on the first call. You should be able to identify common problem sets and common solution sets that can be reused and monitored. This can feed to your quality and service product processes.

Focus on Accurate Scheduling

If you are involved with field service, installs, or replacement work, your system should provide you with scheduling capabilities that allow you to schedule teams, and equipment. You should expect the system to account for travel time, time on site, and other dependencies such as pieces of equipment needed for a repair. If you think you are losing revenue or your service times are suffering because you are scheduling people and equipment conservatively, you may want to look at what systems can now provide. Missed appointments, double booked appointments, or delayed appointments can easily be reduced with the correct system.

Focus on Analytics

The last thing your system should allow you to do is to quickly analyze and report on your service activities. This will allow you to improve service and measure the results of changes you make to your service delivery. These analytics should also help you look for opportunities to reduce cost or increase revenue generated by your service area.

Customer Retention in Tough Economic Times

It is more important than ever to retain your current customers. In addition to price as a factor in customer retention, service may play a role in keeping your customers with you. A proper system can facilitate top level service that you can use as a competitive advantage and as a selling point with new customers. Good service is valuable to your customers and you should market your service process to them. If your software facilitates a service focus, you will be able to demonstrate to them that you can deliver what your promise by sharing their service records and your overall service analytics with them.

What it looks like, but no, that house did not just fall out of the sky. It’s an artistic project of sculptor Erwin Wurm and it was set up especially to look like a house just fell out of the sky and landed on the Viennese Museum of Modern Art. Actually it took two large cranes to get that house in its place and secure it properly.

Wurm says his work of art is a statement against over-development, here are his thoughts on the matter: “There are hundreds of thousands of houses and they are spreading like a plague, like a cancer across our land.”

It is believed that, he did this to please the spirit of a little girl who had drowned in the canal. Whatever may be the reason, he managed to turn this island into a bizarre, scary place where an eerie eye of mutilated dolls haunts your every move, on this strange island.


Don Julian is said to have led an isolated life ,except when he ventured to collect old dolls that he either scavenged from the garbage dump or bought in exchange for his homegrown fruits and vegetables. Personally one is made to believe that he obviously did not like intrusion and tried to scare off inquisitive onlookers by hanging scary doll faces. In 2001, Don Julian was discovered drowned to his death in the same canal surrounding his home. Don Julian is dead to the world but his eerie disturbed vision stays on, in the faces of lifeless dolls mutilated and hung in the worst forms of human torture and punishment.


This is a ghostly sight that serves as a dark tourist attraction especially for the young generation who is fascinated by gore and death. Many visitors are overwhelmed by the dead childish faces of dolls that never lived but appear to haunt this place, always looking at us as though we were responsible for their deaths. GENIUS Boy - Amazing IQ Level

3 year ago a footage emerged from a remote village in India. The video showed a young girl receiving surgery to separate her fingers, which were badly burned and fused together. Why did this operation make headlines around the world? The surgery was performed by a 7-year-old boy named Akrit Jaswal.


Now 13 years old, Akrit has an IQ of 146 and is considered the smartest person his age in India - a country of more than a billion people. Before Akrit could even speak, his parents say they knew he was special.

'He learned very fast,' says Raksha, Akrit's mother. 'After learning the alphabet, we started to teach him joining of words, and he started writing as well. He was two.'

At an age when most children are learning their ABCs, Akrit was reading Shakespeare and assembling a library of medical textbooks. When he was 5 years old, he enrolled in school. One year later, Akrit was teaching English and math classes.

Akrit developed a passion for science and anatomy at an early age. Doctors at local hospitals took notice and started allowing him to observe surgeries when he was 6 years old. Inspired by what he saw, Akrit read everything he could on the topic. When an impoverished family heard about his amazing abilities, they asked if he would operate on their daughter for free. Her surgery was a success.

After the surgery, Akrit was hailed as a medical genius in India . Neighbors and strangers flocked to him for advice and treatment. At age 11, Akrit was admitted to Punjab University .. He's the youngest student ever to attend an Indian university. That same year, he was also invited to London 's famed Imperial College to exchange ideas with scientists on the cutting edge of medical research.
Akrit says he has millions of medical ideas, but he's currently focused on developing a cure for cancer. 'I've developed a concept called oral gene therapy on the basis of my research and my theories,' he says. 'I'm quite dedicated towards working on this mechanism.'

Growing up, Akrit says he used to see cancer patients lying on the side of the road because they couldn't afford treatment or hospitals had no space for them. Now, he wants to use his intellect to ease their suffering. '[I've been] going to hospitals since the age of 6, so I have seen firsthand people suffering from pain,' he says. 'I get very sad, and so that's the main motive of my passion about medicine, my passion about cancer.'

Currently, Akrit is working toward a bachelor's degrees in zoology, botany and chemistry. Someday, he hopes to continue his studies at Harvard University.

Afghan Girl Optical Illusion

Probably all of you saw this picture at some point of your life. Titled the “Afghan Girl”, this photo was named the most recognized photograph in the history of National Geographic. Although girl’s name was not known, her picture appeared on the June 1985 cover of the magazine. The image of her face, with a red scarf draped loosely over her head and with her piercing sea-green eyes staring directly into the camera, became a symbol both of the 1980s Afghan conflict and of the refugee situation worldwide. Gula was known throughout the world simply as the Afghan Girl until she was formally identified in early 2002.

Over time, many variations of Steve McCurry’s original photo appeared. At some point even in optical illusion form, as we see below. All I could find about this illusion, is that people can’t seem to look at it for too long. Apparently you get a headache, or become nervous at best. Maybe this isn’t the true nature of this illusion, but it just didn’t make me hallucinate like some other animations did. Wait few seconds for the animation to load (it’s 1MB big), and share your experience afterward.

Name One Place You’ll Never Find a Kuwaiti Man Working

Rightly, or wrongly, more conservative Gulf countries like Kuwait are often highlighted in the international media for gender inequality. The situation is undoubtedly improving across the board, thanks to the internet, women’s groups and what appears to be a general mellowing of attitudes.
There are always two sides, if not three, four or five to every story. I was curious to investigate whether there were any jobs that men in the Middle East aren’t allowed to do and lo and behold….
Since January 2007, Kuwaiti, men have been prohibited from working in women’s lingerie stores.

Keeping it Under Wraps in Kuwait
In January ’07, Kuwait issued a decree Sunday banning men from working in shops selling “private” women’s garments like underwear. The decree, issued by the ministry of social affairs and labor, gave businesses three months to implement the ban and replace male staff with female workers or face a fine of up to $700 dollars for each male worker found behind the counter.
The administrative circular number 53/2006 was issued according to a ministerial decree number 165/2006 to ban men from working at shops selling item of intimate apparel.
Special inspectors from the ministry visited stores to enforce the ban (although it’s unclear whether these inspectors were male or female). The ministry also ordered its labour departments to stop recruiting male migrant labourers for employment in women’s lingerie shops.
Posing a Problem for Store Owners
I have to say, even as a very modern girl living in an ultra-modern world, I can see the sense in this – In the European lingerie stores I’ve visited, I think I’ve always been served by a woman and I don’t know how I’d feel buying my smalls from a guy (no offense boys.) After a quick poll of my Arab male friends, all told me they’d feel strange about selling female underwear, particularly the married ones.
Despite the ever-growing number of women working, it’s still more common to be attended by male shop staff in Kuwait, and the pressure to find a job remains much greater for men.
What’s more, a lingerie shop is considered a far cry from the ideal employment establishment for a Kuwaiti woman. Substituting male workers for female in this instance is challenging and shopkeepers have had difficulty complying with the law because it’s tough finding women willing to work in these stores.
The Lingerie Law Engulfs…
Kuwait and Saudi Arabia were the first countries to implement the law banning men from working in lingerie boutiques, followed a couple of months later in March 2007, by Sharjah in the UAE. During first month of the Sharjah campaign, 40 shops were found breaching the new lingerie law and 10 outlets were forced to shut down.
