Joy Ike's Sophomore Album "Rumors"

It is easy to label an artist as soulful, but increasing difficult to find a real soul artist in today’s music scene. Joy Ike is the needle in the haystack. Her recently released sophomore album, 'Rumors', rises above the rest busting through with a soul sound that has drawn comparisons to Norah Jones, Fiona Apple, and Regina Spektor.

Her single "Sweeter" has received praise from NPR’s music critics with All Things Considered calling her, "a unique blend of neo-soul, with just the right dash of pop...a truly compelling act to watch."

New Band - The Script!

The Script, originally from Dublin, some music journalists have hailed them as "The Next U2". Their unique musical style pulls from Celtic Soul traditions as well as Mainstream Pop sensibilities demonstrated by alt-rock heavy weights Coldplay and Maroon 5. Stand-out tracks such as "We Cry" and "The Man Who Can't Be Moved" have helped The Script cement a loyal fanbase for themselves. iTunes started featuring Jessie James’ sultry “Wanted” video as the “Video Of The Week”, after more than 180,000 folks had viewed the video on her Myspace page, since it launched three weeks ago. iTunes has also made “Wanted” available for sale. With the single hitting at radio (over 60 stations across the US are playing “Wanted”), additional video play on MTV hits, and her upcoming Steve Madden Music campaign – it’s a cinch that Jessie has stolen her way into the heart of pop.

Groundbreaking Online Campaign!

Fifty Berklee College of Music students enrolled in a marketing course have launched a grassroots campaign to help land two of their teachers, vocalist Donna McElroy and pianist Jetro da Silva, a televised performance of "America the Beautiful" at the Presidential Inauguration this January.

In support of the application filed with the Armed Services Inaugural Committee, students used YouTube.com to provide worldwide access to a video of McElroy and da Silva giving a stirring rendition of the piece at the 2004 inauguration of Berklee president Roger Brown.

The students’ strategy is to increase the probability of the link reaching the President-elect or his team by using the same tools and tactics used by Obama to win the election. Last week the students began rolling out email, social networks, blogs, and word-of-mouth efforts as means of sharing the video with the world and in hope of getting it all the way to the President-elect.

This kid never stops!!! Colin Munroe is set to put out a new mixtape and has released his upcoming tour dates for the rest of the year. His Unsung Hero mixtape includes 14 tracks of artists such as DC’s native Wale, NYC’s up and coming Mickey Factz, and legend Blaqstarr just to name a few. The album was co-produced by Sickamore & The Famous Firm in Dallas Austin’s Atlanta studio. Dallas Austin has produced pop acts such as TLC, Madonna, and P!nk.
